So, when our client wanted to automate data integration and trade its aging EDI platform for a cutting-edge ecosystem, we knew that our team would have to blaze a trail of innovation to ensure our client’s continued growth.

Key Challenges

Enterprises with complex distribution systems and increased B2B order flows rely on order management systems (OMSs) that act as a conduit for synchronized information flows and seamless omnichannel experience. However, our client’s ability to support multiple customer orders across diverse channels took a hit due to legacy system issues. Their existing OMS was obsolete, reached end of life, and lacked scalability to fulfill the rising number of customer orders.

Our client had an internal legal mandate to store data for the past seven years. However, their existing Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) middleware solution did not have the ability to automate the storage and retrieval of data. As a result, there were no synchronized information flows across the enterprise. Since data, both historical and concurrent, was lying dormant in silos, systems weren’t able to communicate effectively with each other.

Our client is one of a leading global chemical company with 24 manufacturing facilities across the US, Europe, and Asia. Headquartered in the US, the company has a wide-reaching presence in 17 countries and is recognized for its high-quality silicones, quartz, and ceramic materials.
Our Solutions

Ensuring minimal business disruption, while implementing middleware migration, was our single biggest challenge. Another added challenge was the urgency to migrate them to SAP PO as the client had deadlines to discontinue their existing EDI middleware. In a calculated move, we replaced the existing EDI middleware solution with the much-advanced SAP Process Orchestration (PO), migrating a total of 165 high-level interfaces with military precision. Since our client was already using several SAP technologies across multiple business verticals, embracing the SAP PO wasn’t entirely new to them. The new SAP PO middleware integrated with their existing ERP landscape, giving them the ability to fulfill, monitor, and optimize order processing workflows in real-time while averting disruptions and dependencies of any kind.

Obliging our client’s legal mandate to store data for seven years, we prototyped, designed, developed, tested, and deployed a Complex Interface Structure. The new system can create backups and store quantum of data for every inbound and outbound interface while complementing the newly implemented EDI landscape. True to its objective, our solution helped automate and rampup data storage over an internal SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) server and later, on a DB server as provided by our client. This facilitated a unified view into the order and inventory management processes, secured data transfers critical to businesses and people alike, and ensured informed business decisions. Best of all, it helped the company elevate scalability to the next level and reap immediate value from their data.
