Empowering an education leader to embrace a new era of technology-enabled learning
Key challenges
The COVID-19 pandemic forced the closure of all offline coaching centres across India, leaving students without physical access to registration or support. This created an immediate and urgent need for a robust online education platform development initiative that could replicate and exceed the quality of in-person learning at scale.
Aakash BYJU's struggled with disparate learning management systems — including separate portals for scholarship tests (ANTHE), digital courses (Aakash Digital), class registration (Aakash Institute), and distance learning (Aakash DLP) — each requiring separate login credentials. This fragmentation made it difficult to provide students with integrated information on courses, fees, exams, and scholarships, and prevented data-driven decisions at the institutional level.
Students faced significant hurdles — difficulty searching for courses online, lack of query monitoring, and offline enrollment processes — leading to bottlenecks in their journey and dissatisfaction with the overall user experience. The absence of an online portal for mock test and scholarship exam enrollment further compounded these challenges.
There was no online portal for students to register, view, and manage enrollment for mock tests and scholarship exams.
Client in spotlight
Aakash BYJU's, with over 35 years of legacy since its inception in 1988, stands as a renowned coaching institute for medical and engineering aspirants in India. With a network of over 300 coaching centers across the country, Aakash BYJU's has established itself as a leader in test preparation. Their team of over 5,000 expert faculty members enables students to excel in competitive exams — in 2023 alone, over 122,000 students qualified in NEET and JEE exams. Kellton supported Aakash BYJU's in transitioning from a fragmented digital environment to a unified, scalable online learning management system — helping the institute meet the growing demands of India's rapidly expanding ed-tech market.
Unlocking Digital success

Project Outcomes
A 25% increase in entrance examination enrollments was achieved following the launch of the unified educational platform, reflecting improved discoverability, streamlined enrollment, and a significantly better student experience across the digital journey.
Revenue rose by 23% — driven by the introduction of personalized, omnichannel learning experiences, online payment capabilities, and improved engagement across the platform's course and scholarship offerings.
Faculty-student engagement improved meaningfully as the platform enabled live interactive classes, real-time query monitoring, and digital assessment delivery — replacing the disjointed, manual processes that had previously slowed down communication between educators and aspirants.
Four previously disconnected portals — ANTHE, Aakash Digital, Aakash Institute, and Aakash DLP — were consolidated into a single platform via SSO, eliminating the friction of multiple login credentials and giving students one unified point of access across their entire journey.
Continuity of operations was preserved through the pandemic-driven shift online, with online enrollment, payments, and mock test registration replacing what had previously been entirely offline processes — capabilities that did not exist on the platform before this engagement.
The successful delivery of this e-learning platform development project positioned Aakash BYJU's as a stronger competitor in India's rapidly growing online education market — estimated to reach USD 5 billion by 2025, with test preparation being the largest and fastest-growing segment.
